Why Poe Mill?

One common misunderstanding when it comes to a neighborhood mission is that it’s somehow a negative thing when people who live outside the neighborhood join our church. Not true.

A neighborhood mission is not about who comes in, it’s about where we pour out. At Griggs Church, everyone is welcome to come in and worship no matter where they live. But when we pour out, we pour out together into one place: Poe Mill.

Neighborhood Based Missions in Poe Mill

Neighborhood Network

Each Sunday from 4:00-5:00 we have an awesome, fun-filled, gospel-packed program for the kids of Poe Mill called Neighborhood Network. Come on out to play games, do crafts, and learn about Jesus. We’ll even pick you up if you live in the neighborhood.

Ministry Park

Griggs has been able to help with Ministry Park, which can be found at 27 2nd Ave between by River of Life ministry. Ministry Parks hosts several worship services each week where those in need can receive food and essential items. Come out on Tuesday nights at 6 or Saturdays at 4 to receive free food.

Block Parties

Each quarter we host a block party for the Poe Mill neighborhood. We’ve had over 300 people at these events. Each time it’s a good time. The Poe Mill Spring Block Party, Summer Block Party, and Fall Family Fun Night have become neighborhood traditions and will continue to be so for years to come.

Griggs is involved with the Neighborhood Association which seeks to enhance the lives of the neighborhood residents through helping job seekers and those in need of affordable housing solutions.
