Rebuild Upstate
This year we were given the chance to work alongside a non-profit called Rebuild Upstate and complete major projects on 5 neighborhood homes.
Basically, the residents of Poe Mill can apply to have work done on their home. If they really can’t afford to work on their home, Rebuild Upstate puts them on a list of houses ready for repair. Then, if someone donates the funds, volunteers are gathered from a local church, the materials are bought, and the work gets done.
We had a very generous donor offer to fund the 5 applicants and our church, with help from others, was able to lend volunteers to do the work.
While doing the projects we were able to meet Ed, a long-time neighborhood resident. Ed is an awesome guy. We have really enjoyed getting to know him and he has even visited our church since we were able to work on his house. He has had some health difficulties so be praying for him! But we’re glad to know our neighbor a little better now.
